The United States Amateur Pickleball Association or USAPA is a pickleball group that exists nationally. It offers Pickleball National Championships and club membership programs. Additionally, there is a rules committee which publishes pickleball's official rules.

In November 2009, USAPA held their first National Tournament. It attracted almost 400 players from 26 states. It received significant media attention. Good Morning America included a segment that featured pickleball.

USAPA published the first official book on pickleball construction. Among other things, the book includes technical information on how to build a pickleball court. The USAPA and American Sports Builders Association partnered to create this book.

The popularity of pickleball was quickly expanding. The SFIA Sports and Fitness Industry Association reported a worldwide population of over 2 million pickleballers. Many people took up the sport, especially in retirement homes. Another reason that the sport is so popular is because it's meant for active play.

The sport was initially restricted to Buckeye in Arizona. Eventually, however, the organization expanded its membership and spawned a variety of venues around the country. Today there are more than 420 locations in the US and Canada. These venues include backyard courts as well as indoor sports halls and recreation centers.

The USAPA re-branded it in 2014. It adopted the color scheme red, white,, and blue. It also changed its logo. As a result, it now has a more contemporary look that is compatible with other national sports governing bodies.

The organization also signed contracts with national television channels. Its website lists over420 locations in the US. Canada, Mexico, Mexico, and Europe. It has over 17,000 users. The game's popularity increased more than 1,000% since 2013.

Justin Maloof was appointed Executive Director of the organization in January 2013. At the same time, he also restructured the organization's internal affairs and staff. He was joined by a team of nearly 20 employees. Moreover, the organization expanded its regional programs from eight to 11.

Its efforts to increase the number of national tournaments opened the door for its Hall of Fame. Enrique Ruiz (pickleball player) and Jennifer Lucore (pickleball player) were among those inducted into the Hall of Fame. Inductees into the Hall of Fame were also acknowledged for their contributions.
